Australian Capital Territory Simply known as ACT, this is the nation’s capital state. Prime attractions include the Parliament House of Australia , the Australian War Memorial, Royal Australian Mint, Australian National Botanic Gardens, and the Old Parliament House which now is home to the Museum of Australian Democracy.

New South Wales This isAustralia’s oldest state and you can find the harbor city of Sydney here. Of course, there is the iconic Sydney Opera House that greets all those who enter into the harbor. New South Wales is also about beaches, mountain ranges and desert – perfect playgrounds for those looking for adventure. Extreme sports are commonly offered here. Surf the challenging waves at its north coast, ski at the Snowy Mountains, go hiking and camping at the state’s national parks.

South Australia Beaches and outback galore! South Australia boasts not only of these (including the gorgeous Flinders Ranges) but also the churches you can visit at Adelaide. You can also try a spot of wine tasting at the Barossa Valley orchards.

Northern Territory This is one of the country’s most beautiful regions. It is blessed with red deserts (encompassing Alice Springs and Uluru). Visit Darwin and nearby Kakadu National Park, as well as the other 51 national parks and nature conservation reserves. Really, this territory is where you can find the best that Australian nature has to offer – rare flora, mountains with trails and swimming holes. Victoria Surf the waves at Victoria. This is located at the central and southwest coast. It is also home to some of the country’s national parks, as well as the modern city of Melbourne. You can also visit the site of the Gold Rush, Phillip Island, and the Alpine regions of Bright and Beechworth. Victoria is filled with postcard-perfect sceneries, truly a wonderful, breathtaking place.

Tasmania No, this region is not just about the Tasmanian devil. It is also blessed with beaches as well as rocky wilderness. For some idea of Australian history, the city to visit is Hobart, where you will find a number of historic sites. Go trout fishing or take the renowned bushwalk (soanning Lake St. Clair to Cradle mountain). You can also rent a mountain bike and tour the state. Western Australia Wine, wildflowers and national parks all define Western Australia. Perth is the state capital.
