The Bahamas is known to be the top summer tourist destination because of its long stretch of stunning Bahamas beaches and resorts. Since a lot of people all over the world want to experience a Bahamas vacation, travel agencies and airline companies have thought of a way to bring it closer to people.

Nowadays, travel agencies offer almost everything, from transportation, accommodation, and activities to do while on the island. What better way to be prepared for the one’s Bahamas vacation than to know the how-to’s of going to, around, and within the area.

How to Get There

With the increasing demand and number of people who want to go to Bahamas, there are now also a lot of means to go there. One of the most common means of transportation to any place in the world is by air. The international airport of the Bahamas is located at Moss Town in Exuma. Other airports in the area are the Nassau International and the Grand Bahama International that are located in key cities of the area and are accessible to various local transportations and commercial establishments. Some airline companies offer trips to the Bahamas at a relatively higher price because of the island’s accessibility to the rest of the world. Aside from the national airline of the Bahamas, Bahamasair, other airlines that offer trips and Bahamas vacation packages are British Airways and the Virgin Atlantic.

Aside from getting to Bahamas by air, another popular means of going there is by water. To fully experience a grandiose Bahamas vacation, why not get a Bahamas cruise? Not only that it will get one to Bahamas, it will leisurely let one see and explore the beauty of the Caribbean Sea and the neighbouring islands of Bahamas. There are quite a number of ports, harbours, and seaports where Bahamas cruise ships and ferries can dock at such as Abraham’s Bay in Mayaguana, the Grand Bahama Harbour, Marsh Harbour, and the most popular, the Nassau port.

Going Around the Bahamas

With the popularity of the Bahamas as a summer vacation hotspot, there’s not really a need for the local government to create and promote the Bahamas. As the Bahamas tourism consistently grows through time, so are the facilities, amenities, and development in the area. As years passed by, significant infrastructure developments have been visible not to boost Bahamas tourism.

Nowadays, there are already a lot of means of transportation within the island such as buses, taxis and rentable cars, bicycles, and even scooters. In any other city around the world, the most inexpensive means of transportation is by bus. Buses and jitneys,as locals call their minibuses, operate in the around the city and Bahamas’ commercial centers. Buses in the Bahamas are also very convenient for tourists because buses stop at hotels.

Metered taxis are also readily available at airports and seaports to accommodate tourists who want to go to places that are not accessible by bus. If one does not want the hassle of waiting for the bus and calling a cab, one can opt to make prior reservations to car rental companies in Bahamas. Some Bahamas vacation packages offer this service while some local Bahamas resorts offer bike and motor scooter rentals that tourists can use for short-distance travels in the area. However, prior to having access to rented vehicles, one must abide by the British traffic and driving rules and regulations that govern the Bahamas. Aside from presenting valid and legal documents, one should also acquire a local license that is valid up to three months upon approval.

In addition to land transportation, the locals in the Bahamas also provide boats and other water vessels for tourists to rent so that they can visit the neighbouring islands of the Bahamas and access its long stretch of beaches.
