Chakra Meditation
66Stress, problems and other things cause our body to be weak and our minds out of focus. There are lots of things that could be done to prevent all these things to cause more health and mental problems. One very successful method of relieving all these types stress is Chakra Meditation. This type of meditation or healing process has been proven by people who have been practicing this method for thousands of years. It has been adopted by the western medicine due to its healing effects that are needed by people without having to shell out that much money. Chakra is purely natural because it has been described by many as a spinning wheel of light that radiates within our bodies or represented as lotus flowers with different number of petals and colors. There are seven chakras present in our bodies and these chakras represent different things and focus on different parts of our body.
Sahasrara or The Crown Chakra – this type of chakra is considered to be the chakra of pure consciousness. It has been said that this chakra has a role that is kind of similar to that of the pituitary gland that secretes hormones that send messages to the central nervous system and the rest of the endocrine system. This chakra is symbolized by a lotus flower with thousands of petals and is located at the crown of the head and represents the color violet. This chakra deals with issues such as inner wisdom and the body’s death. It also deals with mental action with universal consciousness and emotional action with the beingness of the person.
Ajna or The Brow Chakra – The Ajna chakra is linked to the pineal gland that produces hormone melatonin which is responsible for sleeping and waking up. This is symbolized by a lotus flower but with only two petals. It corresponds to the colors white, deep blue or indigo. The Ajna chakra deals with the balancing of the higher and lower selves of a person and the trust that is given to our own inner guidance. This chakra’s aspect deals with our intuition, our own inner self.
Vishuddha or The Throat Chakra – paralleled to the throat that contains the thyroid gland that produces the thyroid hormone that is responsible for growth and maturity. This is symbolized by a lotus flower that has sixteen petals and is associated with the color turquoise or light blue. The Vishuddha chakra is the one that governs communication, thought and spirituality and emotional independence.
Anahata or The Heart Chakra – this chakra is located in the chest part. The Anahata is related to the thymus which deals with the immune system as a part of the endocrine system. It is the site where T cells mature and fend of diseases that are affected by stress. This chakra is represented by a green lotus flower that has twelve petals. The Anahata involve well being, unconditional love for one’s self and the others, passion and devotion.
Manipura or The Solar Plexus Chakra – relating to the metabolic and digestive systems of the body, the Manipura chakra is located at the stomach part. Colored in yellow, this chakra is represented by lotus with ten petals. The issues that are governed by this chakra are personal power, fear, anxiety and emotions from base to complex. It basically governs all matters of growth.
Svadhisthana or The Sacral Chakra – located in the sacrum area, this corresponds to the reproductive organs receiving the sex hormones. This is closely related to the genitourinary system and the adrenals. The sacral chakra is colored orange and symbolized with a lotus flower with six petals. Relationships, basic emotional needs, pleasure and addictions are just some of the things that are affiliated with the Sacral Chakra. This also governs reproduction, creativity, joy and enthusiasm.
Muladhara or The Base Chakra – absolutely related to instincts and human potentiality. The muladhara chakra is located in between the anus and the genitals. There is a muscle in this region that controls ejaculation in the sexual act of the male. This is symbolized as a lotus flower with four petals and is colored red. Involving lust, sexuality and obsession this also governs sexuality, stability and sensuality.
These Chakras, represent something in all of us. We may not actually believe in it but lots of people are actually practicing this method of meditation. It is still better and far more natural than taking any medicine or supplements that would help us in our quest for a more healthy body and sound mind.
