The Argyle pink diamonds make up for only less that one percent of the mine’s total production. Though natural pink diamonds can also be found in other countries, such as Africa, India, and Brazil, it is only in Australia where natural pink diamonds are of very intense shade, ranging from raspberry pink to full-blooded purple-red shades. Other pink diamonds are just characteristically light to very pale in color.

As pink diamonds become popular, gemologists, studied it components and the possibility of its origin. They found out that pink diamonds contain nitrogen atoms in the crystal structure which might have been distorted because of high pressure. The pink color pigments may have been produced by the crystal structures that absorb green and blue light.

Today, the largest pink diamond in the world is known as the Darya-e-Nur, also known by its English name as the Sea of Light, River of Light, or the Ocean of Light. The Darya-e-Nur is a 186 carat pink tablet-shaped diamond which can be found at the Museum of the Treasury of National Iranian Jewels.

Household Tips on Taking Care of Pink Diamond Jewelries

Caring for pink diamond jewelry pieces is just like caring for any other diamond jewelry piece. After taking the jewelry off, excess hair or small dirt particles should be carefully removed. It is also advised not to use regular hand or body soap because it will leave the jewelry dull lost its shine and luster.
One recommended household tip on taking care of pink diamond jewelry pieces is to soak it small amounts of vodka for a couple of minutes. After a few minutes, take it out and let it air dry. Another cleaning technique for pink diamond jewelry is to soak it in dissolved baking soda overnight. Just like with vodka, take it out the next day and let it out to dry. Aside from vodka, baking soda, and jewelry cleaning solutions, ammonia and mild detergents can also be used to clean one’s jewelry. If you want to brush you pink diamond jewelry, it is advised to use baby’s toothbrush because it has very soft bristles.
