Natural Organic Shampoo

Hair care has been a significant part of every culture. The use of organic shampoo began around 600 B.C. Plants, wood ashes, and even animal fats were used to clean the hair. However, it was during the Middle Ages that organic shampoo was commercially produced. Though soap and shampoo were considered as one at that time, merchants at that time took the opportunity to put an added-value to organic shampoo. They put together herbal plants and wood ashes and added fragrances, such as flowers and fruits, to entice villagers and even the royalties to buy their organic shampoo merchandise. Following the usual caste system at that time, royalties, kings, queens, and courtesans get to have the best organic shampoo with the finest ingredients and unique fragrances.  Before, organic shampoo was used only to wash and clean the dirt from the hair, it was in 1800s that therapeutic head and scalp massage and the use of organic shampoo was introduced.  It took a few more years, 1930s, before organic shampoo was developed and synthetic and chemical components were added to achieve shinier and cleaner hair.

Recent studies show that methyl paraben, a usual component of beauty products, in large doses, can trigger build up of cancer cells. One example is the shampoo which is directly applied to the scalp and hair and residues are in constant contact with the skin. At times, there are also proven allergic reaction to some of the components of synthetic shampoos. The amount of shampoo one uses varies with the number of times one takes a bath and the amount or length of hair one has. This has prompted people to go back to using organic shampoo because of the health safety it poses and the added nutrients and vitamins that it gives.

The changing environment, pollution and climate change have contributed to the weakness of synthetic and chemical-based shampoos. Sometimes, too much chemical components in ordinary chemical-based shampoos severely dry and damage not only the hair follicles but also the scalp not making the hair grow back. Another study reported that some clarifying shampoos contain sodium laurate which also is a component significantly found in engine degreasers. This component makes some of the clarifying shampoos leave the hair a light and clean feeling. However, this chemical is very harmful, especially when used excessively on the scalp, for it prevents hair follicles from growing.

This prompted shampoo manufacturers to provide the market an alternative that would still make them patronize their products. Manufacturers have gone back to producing organic shampoo. Aside from using natural components and fragrances, they also added vitamins and amino acids that can penetrate through the scalp to stimulate and replenish lost nutrients in the hair. They have also created organic hair conditioner, which also incorporates vitamins that could improve the growth of new hair. Organic hair conditioner, with all its natural components, keeps the hair healthy and shiny.

Organic shampoos have also evolved because of technological and scientific advancements. Nowadays, unlike in the ancient and medieval times, high quality and the best organic hair shampoo is now available for all.  The ingredients and some of the components are still inspired by the natural organic shampoo prepared by our ancestors in the past. Some organic shampoo products still contain classic natural and organic components such as coconut oil, aloe vera, chamomile, rosemary, and green tea leaves. However, due to the changing environment, organic shampoo manufacturers also blended a variety of essential oils and herbs to provide an effective, pleasant, and fresh smelling organic shampoo that would clean and treat the hair.

Aside from adult organic shampoo, manufacturers have also tapped the market for babies and children. Scientists tested some of the shampoos used on babies and children and some of which also contain the same components to that of an ordinary adult shampoo. They now also manufacture organic baby shampoo which has been proven to be less or even non-irritating because natural essences are used. Organic baby shampoos are created in such a way that it is incredibly mild and gentle to the baby’s sensitive scalp and delicate hair.

Recently, manufacturers have developed organic hair shampoo that alleviates and prevents hair loss. Organic shampoos have natural ingredients that reduce scalp and hair stress that can boost ones hair growth. Some organic hair shampoos also bear an aromatic scent that helps relieve stress and calm one’s senses. Another breakthrough in organic shampoo and organic hair conditioners is its detoxifying capability to break down cholesterol and remove pollutants as well as product build up on the scalp that cannot be removed by ordinary synthetic shampoos.

Organic shampoos, for the young and old, are not only natural and safe for our well-being, it also is environment friendly because only organic and natural components are used. The uses of harmful and synthetic components that harm the skin and pollute the environment are prevented.
