Ski Holiday
60Woosh! Woosh! Woosh! Can you
imagine how it feels to glide across fresh, pristine snow – the sharp
but pleasurable sting of the cold air, the exhilaration you get only
from speed, the excitement of navigating the slopes, and the sheer joy
of skiing. Ahh… nothing beats this. And after a day of
sliding down the slopes, think of yourself sitting down with a cup of
steaming cocoa, as you chat with friends you’ve just met or curled
in a corner or before a fireplace with a good book. Do all this
even as you enjoy the majestic sight of ice-capped mountains and clear
blue sky. Then, you can also think of how it will feel to soak
up on the Jacuzzi as you soothe those aching bones. Yes, this
is what dream skiing holidays are made of!
And people have for so long flocked
the ski resorts as they enjoy the perfect ski holiday. Mind you,
a holiday like this does not just involve time at the slopes but other
pleasures as well. That is the attraction of a ski holiday
package, you don’t have to spend time thinking and organizing the
details, when you can spend that time enjoying the slopes. With
a ski package, all you need for a great time are there for you to enjoy.
In addition, you will enjoy greater
savings with a ski package, as opposed to dealing with hotels, rentals
and meals separately. It’s not just more expensive. It’s
more complicated as well. Usually ski package holidays include
transportation to the holiday site, transfers, accommodations, and the
use of ski facilities. What’s more, you can add on to the package
as you see fit. You can include some skiing instructions as well
as additional ski equipment.
Skiing is popular in both sides of
the world. You can enjoy the slopes of Aspen, in Switzerland, Canada,
Italy, Alaska, New Zealand, Japan and the list goes on and on…
Aspen, Colorado, boasts of four mountains
that provides skiers with some of the best slopes and sceneries. These
mountains are Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain and Buttermilk.
An added attraction to Aspen is that this is the playground of the rich
and famous. You might even get the chance to catch sight or even
rub elbows with celebrities. Colorado is also home to Vail –
with its five major mountains: Vail, Beaver Creek, Heavenly, Breckenridge
and Keystone. It also has some interesting museums to visit.
Jackson Hole in Wyoming also holds plenty of opportunities to enjoy
oneself with the exhilaration of sliding down death-defying drops.
The trails originate from two mountains there – Rendezvous Mountain
and Apres Vous Mountain.
Moving to Canada, you can try some
skiing at Whistler. This ski area is undoubtedly one of the best,
if not the best in the world. The two mountains,
Whistler and Blackcomb are filled with trails of powdery snow.
The place is breathtakingly beautiful as well. Still in Canada,
you should also see Banff, which sits right at the center of the acclaimed
Canadian Rocky Mountains. This mountain range provides you with
the perfect snow, diversity in terrain, as well as opportunities to
try raising skiing to a new level – heli skiing. Mont Tremblant,
in Quebec, also ranks high in the list of the places to visit when you
want to go skiing.
Some ski resorts are also synonymous
to luxury. You can see this in the luxury chalets, particularly
in Europe. The chalets in France and Switzerland stand with a
jaw-dropping backdrop of the majestic Alps. Head to St. Moritz
(which is really quite the heaven for skiers, beginners and experts alike)
or the Les Diablerets when you are in Switzerland. When in France,
try the Val d’Isere in Savoie or Chamonix. Chamonix is famous
for its snow white powder. It was also home to the 1924 Winter
Olympics, the first of its kind. Meanwhile, in Italy, there
is Cortina d’Ampezzo, with its towering peaks and cross country skiing
trails. Of course, there is also the famous ski resorts in Switzerland
– in Zermatt, Gstaad and Wengen. These are famous not just for
its ski trails but for all the luxurious amenities they offers.
Other popular places to ski in the Alps are Megeve, Les Arcs, Crans
Montana, Alp d’Heuz and Avoriaz. And, if you like it “lively”,
visit St. Anton and Innsbruck in Austria.
Ski holidays provide you with a perfect
chance to go into a skiing adventure and also relax and rejuvenate yourself
for the next days’ exploits.
